Laura & Otis in the redwoods and fields 🌾 I absolutely adore capturing the love of a mother, but it’s even sweeter when it’s your friend 🥹 I met Laura through business networking in Santa Cruz, and now it’s hard to even believe we didn’t once know each other! Laura gave birth to Otis unexpectedly on the very day she was supposed to lead a hike at Spring Trail in Pogonip - exactly where these photos were taken 💛 Laura feels so connected to nature, and she’s instilling this in Otis even at just 1.5 old through hikes in their trusty backpack carrier. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of what my photography is for my clients. While I love that social media is a platform to share the beautiful moments, I want my clients to know that what they’re paying for isn’t just a quick dopamine hit. My photos are a physical document you can hang, print, put into an album and look back on for the rest of your life. My photography is your personal history. I felt reminded of that when I sent off this session to the Smith Fam 🌞, who have been through an incredible amount of hardships in order to bring their two adorable kids into the world.
